I did a bit of cleaning today. In the past, I've gone through this cycle of starting to clean and then getting into a bad spot mentally because I can't finish everything in one day. I'm going to try a little more tomorrow and go on doing the job in small pieces. I took a first swipe at the tub this afternoon and quit when my back started hurting too much, and I'm planning to work on it again tomorrow if my back feels okay. Maybe I should get some rubber gloves.

Also, I got an invitation to apply to another grad school. It looks good. I might go for it, if I can get my former committee members to write me another round of recommendations.

I finally got to a library that had Catching Fire not on hold. I already read most of it. I can't go back to it tonight, but so far, I have to say that I don't have any problems with the things I've noticed complaints about. Also, the two characters introduced in this book that every other adult who's read this series seems to be wild about? I'm not that impressed so far. I still have a third of the book to go, so maybe they shine later on. But for now, I prefer other characters that I'd never heard of before because nobody in my corner of the internet has been talking about them. I sort of hope the two popular characters amaze me tomorrow, because I don't want to have a round of "Fandom, why must you disappoint me?" over another book.

Speaking of which, a workshop I attended this morning gave me a great idea that will help me in whichever doctoral program I eventually get into and with the rest of my life in general. Unfortunately, this idea is also the kind of thing that could be used for evil rather than good, or at least for evil's annoying little cousin, HP House wank. Foolish, wanky, overgrown fandom, why do I keep thinking about you?
