I've bought my plane tickets to go for interviews at a grad school in a couple of weeks. So, yeah, this is actually happening. I'm working on scheduling a visit to another university later. I've already been accepted by my preferred professor at the second university, but I want to check it out in person to make sure.

I was telling teacher about it this morning, and a student who heard me said, "I don't know what that is, but it seems to be very significant to you. I can tell from your voice that you are excited." <3

I finally saw the new Muppet movie today. ^_^ I'll be up for discussing the actual content of the movie later, but for now I'm just basking in this warm, Muppety glow and reflecting on how it wouldn't be a bad thing to have more corny jokes and ridiculous musical numbers in my life.

I was going to go last weekend, but I was too sick, and then I was busy yesterday after work. Today it snowed all day, but I went anyway because I had waited so long and I needed Muppets! Maybe this will be useful for complaining at future students: "When I was your age-- actually, when I was considerably older than you are now-- I had to walk through the snow to see some dancing chickens and a pig in a wig." Or maybe not. Anyway, there weren't any other people there except one really nice woman with a largish group of kids. She'd been planning their trip to the movie for weeks, so when the snow didn't let up this afternoon, she (and the kids, who were possibly more excited because of the snow) decided to roll with it much like I did.

Who else loved the discarded toys in support group in the Toy Story short? Frankly, I unironically want my own Tae Kwon Doe in real life. I would not discard her. I also want all those warrior mermaids and DJ Bluejay. And I'm pretty sure that some of the more WTF toys like Ghost Burger and the transformers that turn into meat instead of cars are the kind of toys kids play with in The Tick's universe.

I submitted a grad school application today! I've also had my GRE scores and transcripts sent, and I'm getting close to the end on another application. This means it is time for me to get back to writing. I'll be working on my post-apocalyptic snippet and the second part of my anti-WolfFail thing this week, as well as filling a prompt I've been putting off.

In the meantime, have a video of a Pomeranian puppy letting out her inner wolf.

People buying stuff made by Kansan Entrails/Surrealist Dreamer! Go take a look at the beaded goodness and small plush chibi heads in her Etsy store. If you buy stuff, she will be able to make more fun things.

I haven't been up to much the last two days because I've been sick. I've been sleeping a lot. Maybe I'll be more energetic tomorrow. I am making travel plans for later this month-- visiting a prospective grad school first, then spending a few days with my mom.

I promised one of my friends a silly post, so here's the silliest thing I can think of this weekend: giant pink plush frogs. I encountered these huggable creatures several years ago during the lead-up to Valentine's Day. I didn't buy myself one because of both price and storage space concerns (seriously, those those things were HUGE), but I kind of wanted a really big, bright pink plush frog with no practical use.

What's the silliest, cutest, weirdest, prettiest, or awesomest Valentine you've found, received, or given? For me, my favorite this year is these little plush monsters I've been seeing in stores (so ugly they're cute, as my mother would say). They definitely take the cake for silliest and weirdest, and they're in the running for cutest too. However, I still have a really big soft spot for those frogs. For prettiest, I have to admit to a weakness for glittery cards. Valentine's Day and Easter bring out my inner kindergartener.

Check out these monkeys and capybara. The original post is a still picture of four monkeys riding the same capybara. Be sure to scroll down through the comments: there's a video of monkeys grooming and kissing capybara too.
