People with uteruses are people too

The Mississippi State Legislature is scheduled to vote on Amdenment 26, the so-called "personhood amendment," on November 8. If accepted, this amendment would define personhood as beginning at the moment of fertilization. It is a foot in the door for a movement that wants to outlaw ALL abortion, even in cases where abortion is the only way to save a woman's life. It will lead to criminal investigations and possibly manslaughter charges being brought against people who have suffered miscarriages. It will be used to outlaw some forms of birth control. The next item on the agenda for some of the groups backing the amendment is to outlaw all birth control.
